“In 2017, the percentage of S&P 500 sales from foreign countries increased slightly, after two years of measured decreases. The overall rate for 2017 was 43.6%, up from 43.2% in 2016, but down from 44.3% in 2015 and 47.8% in 2014, which was at least an 11-year record high. S&P 500 foreign sales represent products and services produced and sold outside of the U.S.“
Mr. Bear however, has been assigned a totally different mission.  When it’s his turn he has been tasked to use those very same investors to power the trend to un-dreamed of lows.  This is a mission even more difficult than Mr. Bull’s because counter to Mr. Bull it’s Mr. Bear’s duty to actually keep those investors in the market despite it falling over time, which is no easy task. This is because if these investors just gave up and left the market it would simply stop going down.   His mission requires a particularly high level of deviance to pull off.  It’s why Mr. Market retains a particularly fond place in his heart for Mr. Bear, since Mr. Market has a diabolical nature and like the Grand Inquisitor, he has no problem drawing blood.
American stock exchanges aren't the only ones with extended trading hours. The Hong Kong Stock Exchange, for example, allows for a premarket session from 9:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. local time prior to the market opening. The Toronto Stock Exchange gives traders a full hour after the close of the market, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time, to do additional trading.
There are several U.S. stock exchanges, including the New York Stock Exchange, the NASDAQ, the American Stock Exchange, and several others. However, all of these exchanges are synchronized on their opening times, for the most part. If you want to specifically know the next trading session, you can check out this handy website tool: IsTheMarketOpen.com.
Further, the Indian stock market also opens a special trading session during Diwali, the festival of light. This is known as ‘Mahurat Trading’. Its trading time is declared a few days before Diwali. However, generally, Mahurat Trading timing is in the evening. You can find more details about mahurat trading here: 60-minute ‘Muhurat Trading’ on BSE, NSE this Diwali

Markets are deceptive…but we all know that.  Beyond deceptive, markets are actually down right diabolical.  Mr. Market operates through his two most trustworthy lieutenants Mr. Bull and Mr. Bear.  He has tasked Mr. Bull to climb and reach the top of the mountain using investors buying power to fuel the rise.  But he has also instructed Mr. Bull to not allow those same investors to complete the journey themselves, he wants to reach the top without them.  It’s a hard job to pull off and Mr Bull needs to use every trick in the book to throw off these investors after they use their money to power the trend upward.  It’s a process that takes time and Mr. Bull’s prime tools are greed and fear in the minds of investors.
This measure has since become known as the “Buffett Ratio” (most charts use GDP instead of GNP, hence the different percentages from Buffett’s quote). One obvious issue with this ratio is that it compares companies with increasing international exposure to domestic economic activity. Another potential issue revolves around higher corporate profit margins. While profit margins fluctuate with the economic cycle, changes in industry composition and industry concentration could be elevating margins long-term.
The idea of trading prices, as opposed to physical goods, eventually made its way to other markets. In 1981, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) launched the first cash-settled futures contract on the Eurodollar. Essentially, upon expiration of a cash-settled futures contract, the seller of the contact does not physically deliver the underlying asset but instead transfers the associated cash position. Once the US Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) approved the Eurodollar futures contract, exchanges began listing cash-settled futures contracts on traditional commodities.
In contrast to models that follow earnings or trends, William O’Neil tracks the “big money” by following trading cues from institutions. He asserts that you can guess when institutions are selling since the market indices will show high volume without any price advance. He calls these “distribution days” or selling days. If you see four or five of these high volume sell-off days within one trading month, be prepared for a succeeding price drop. In other words, you should sell your equities and be in a cash position for the potential bear phase.

Another common tactic during periods of market volatility and uncertainty is to park long-term assets in cash investments. While waiting on the sidelines can sometimes seem the prudent strategy, it comes at a cost. CDs and money market accounts may be less volatile than stocks and bonds, but they also offer little opportunity for growth and income.
As we continue to explore our custom research into the metals markets and our presumption that the metals markets are poised for a massive price rally over the next few months/years, we pick up this second part of our multi-part article illustrating our research work and conclusions.  If you missed the first part of this article, please take a minute to review it by before continuing further (Link to Part I).

Most historians agree, though, that the adoption of gold coins as a medium of exchange in medieval Europe played a key role in the development of commodity markets. Regions throughout Europe began making their own specialized gold coins and trading with merchants returning from the East Indies and Asia. These developments led to the need for centralized exchanges.
"In our perspective, this move will align with commodities market timings. However, we will have to wait for Exchanges to implement the same with prior approval of SEBI. Whether the extended timings will be for all securities or securities in equity derivatives market will trade only till the time underlying equities trade and only indexes will be allowed to trade for extended hours," he further said.
In 1944, my good friend, the late Nobelist Friedrich Hayek (1899-1992), published the Road to Serfdom. It immediately became an international sensation. In it, Hayek argued that government interventions into markets, whether they be via regulatory mandates or the outright taking of private property, will lead to an initial failure. In short, they will be counterproductive. In an attempt to correct its initial errors, the government then does more of the same, only in greater detail. Further disappointments will lead to still more far-reaching and detailed interventionist measures, until socialism and a state of total tyranny are reached.
We left off in Part I showing a number of supply and demand components and briefly highlighting our newest research using a custom Gold/Silver/US Dollar ratio index.  Our attempt at finding anything new that could help us determine the future outcome of the metals markets and to either support or deny our future expectations that the metals markets are poised for a massive price advance was at stake.  This new research would either help to confirm our analysis or completely blow it out of the water with new data.  Let’s continue where we left off and start by showing even more data related to our new custom metals ratio.
The major gold miners’ stocks remain mired in universal bearishness, largely left for dead.  They are just wrapping up their third-quarter earnings season, which proved challenging.  Lower gold prices cut deeply into cash flows and profits, and production-growth struggles persisted.  But these elite companies did hold the line on costs, portending soaring earnings as gold recovers.  Their absurdly-cheap stock prices aren’t justified.

I realize it's actually kind of dumb for me to tell others how well this newsletter works, because if people learn that markets can indeed be timed, then the markets eventually become efficient, and that methodology stops working. But I think the vast majority of people still think market timing is a hoax, so there's little risk in the markets ever becoming efficient. And I write this review because I'd like to do my part to help drive some business to Campbell, since he helped me make a little money. Thanks, Bob!
